CGI manufacturing experts

What does CGI mean?

Compacted Graphite Iron is a kind of Gray iron with graphite in a vermicular form which allows us to obtain mechanical properties (hardness, traction‑tolerance…) superior to that of conventional Gray iron with laminar graphite

What kind of experience do we have here at TIF?

This material was developed and patented by Sintercast® at the beginning of the 90’s.

From the minute that first equipment was installed at Tafalla Iron Foundry in 2003, we have consistently improved our technology in close collaboration with Sintercast®.

Process details

Our CGI manufacturing system abides by the ISO 16112 guideline and guarantees an adequate composition, including 0 to 20% nodularity and more than 90% pearlite. The process includes the customized addition of magnesium and inoculating agents in each ladle, with an automated addition system and a meticulous monitoring of results in our ISO 9000 database to guarantee the product’s quality and traceability.

Innovation projects

Currently, we are involved in a CGI prototype manufacturing project for 6 cylinder motor blocks and cylinder heads for one of our clients.
